Upholstery Solutions were recently commissioned to supply custom-shaped banquette seating and wall panels for the Peter Nichol Russel (PNR) Building at
the University of Sydney. The project was part of a larger scheme of capital refurbishment designed to modernise the Unversities’ public learning spaces.

The PNR Building was redesigned to be a more open, collaborative learning space. At the heart of this are lines of continuous, zig-zag banquette seating
(pictured below). The complex, custom shape allows groups to sit in proximity whist also being small and private – facilitating quite discussion and
group collaboration. In effect, the seating allows public thoroughfares to become learning spaces: outside the traditional socratic lecture theatres
and meeting rooms.
